What is the Costa del Sol known for?+
Around 320 days of sun a year, 150 km of Mediterranean coast, some 70 golf courses, and a run of resorts from lively (Torremolinos) to exclusive (Marbella) to authentic (Estepona, Nerja).
Do you need a car on the Costa del Sol?+
Not for a single-resort trip – the Cercanías train links Málaga, the airport and the western resorts as far as Fuengirola. A car pays off for the white villages, Ronda, and the beaches and coves the train never reaches.
When is the best time to visit the Costa del Sol?+
May–June and September–October: the sea is still warm, the weather is reliable, and prices and crowds are well below July and August. Winters are mild and good for golf but not for swimming.
Which airport do you fly into for the Costa del Sol?+
Málaga–Costa del Sol (AGP), the region’s only major airport, with the C1 Cercanías train running from the terminal west along the coast to Fuengirola.
Is the Costa del Sol good for families?+
Yes – Torremolinos, Benalmádena and Fuengirola between them have water parks, Bioparc zoo, Sea Life, Selwo Marina and dozens of kids’-club resorts, all within a short train ride of each other and the airport.
